What a great first semester! I am so proud of all the music students at CMS! What a great start to the year, I look forward to the next. Here is just a quick view on what we did this year...
Between working on dances to collecting shoes 7th grade leadership has been quite busy! We started the year with working on the 15 days of kindness and collected over 2,000 pairs of shoes for kids in Africa. 7th grade students then turned around and brought in over 3,000 caned food items in to win a class competition to dress down for a full week at school. While working to help out the community the leadership students also worked to put on a 7th and 8th grade dance. To end out the semester the students adopted a CMS family for Christmas and gave a family of 5 a great holiday and some great presents and put on a fun school wide assembly.
Musical Theater was full of Disney fun this year! Both beginning musical theater classes worked on learning basic dance skills and working as an ensemble by singing and performing Disney on Broadway medleys Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast. Advanced Musical Theater wowed everyone by learning a medley with over 8 different songs in it all from Broadway shows. At the concert everyone sang and danced their harts out and made me very proud. They even made it into the Nevada Appeal.
Choir Started their semester working on Veterans music for the Annual Veterans Concert during school where over 10 CMS classes came and supported the Choirs in watching the concerts. We then transitioned to Winter Concert music where students sang traditional and non traditional holiday songs. I am also very proud to announce we have 12 Students heading to NZNMEA Honor Choir in Fallon this year! Congratulations to those students and thank you to everyone who auditioned. You all did a great job and got high scores.
